Sometimes you come across an idea that feels so simple in it’s core yet has the ability to change lives. The non-profit app Be My Eyes is such an idea. An app build on the principle of human kindness, the believe that we do care about each other and are willing to lend each other a helping hand – or eye for that matter. The app connects a visually impaired person with a sighted person through video-call.
“It is flexible, takes only a few minutes to help and the app is, therefore, a good opportunity for the busy, modern individual with the energy to help others,”
Hans Jørgen Wiberg, Founder
Since it’s launch in January of 2015 the team around Wiberg has been building an impressive network of eyes with 340,375 sighted volunteers. And in case you are still not convinced what this app is good for let me end with their own answer to this frequently asked question:
“I know what you’re thinking – blind people are so badass, they don’t need help! And it’s true! They navigate entire cities on their own, blind! But even though blind people often have four supersonic senses left, they’re not Sherlocks, and they need help once in a while! Be My Eyes provides that help.”
